A straightforward registration needs accurate details
A registration form is easier to complete when the information is ready. Check the holder’s legal name and decide whether the application is for an individual or an organisation. Use the identity intended to retain control of the domain, rather than someone else’s details simply because they are placing the order.
For .es, Openprovider requires province information, personal identification or a company registration number as applicable, at least two nameservers and Annex III acceptance. These are application requirements. Review the specific fields presented for your circumstances before submitting the information to the provider, and correct any inconsistency you find.
An identity number and a document copy differ
Entering an identification number is different from uploading a scan of a document. It would be misleading to promise that documentary verification can never be needed: a later check, inconsistent information or a different domain operation may require another process. Read the reason for any request before responding to it.
If verification is requested, confirm that the request comes through the provider’s specified channel and relates to your domain. Gather only what is required, avoid group messages or unnecessary email recipients, and keep the case reference. Ask for clarification if the purpose or destination of a document is unclear.
Review addresses and contacts
Small errors can complicate later administration: an incomplete surname, a missing province or an email nobody checks. Spend a few minutes comparing the form with the holder’s records. If several people are involved, make clear who reviews the information and who is authorised to approve changes on the holder’s behalf.
The administrative contact and the holder have different roles in domain management. Pay attention to the details requested for each, and keep the associated email accessible. An abandoned mailbox can make it difficult for the right person to see a notification or complete an approval when it is needed.
Check the extension you actually selected
A .es name and its third-level extensions should not be treated as identical products for every applicant. If the name ends in .nom.es, .org.es, .edu.es or .gob.es, check its particular eligibility conditions. Choose an extension that corresponds to the holder’s identity and the purpose of the project.
Before confirming the order, read the complete name, term and holder details again. Afterwards, keep the receipt and renewal date with the project records. Organised information makes DNS, email and future changes easier to manage, and helps you locate the details a support team needs if you ask for assistance.
