Living abroad with a project in Spain

Official Plataforma ONE guidance allows .es applications from any country where there is a connection with Spain. The country you buy from is therefore not the only consideration. Review whether the project and the applicant meet the conditions that apply to the name you intend to register.

Before starting, write a short explanation of the project’s relationship with Spain and identify the intended holder. This is useful preparation for a company entering the market, an individual publishing content or a team coordinating work across countries. Keep the explanation with your project records for future reference.

Choose the right holder

The holder should be the person or organisation intended to control the domain. If an agency is building your website, agree in writing who owns the project and who administers the account. Paying an invoice or designing the pages should not leave this important responsibility unresolved between the parties.

Use the holder’s real details and an email address with continuity. Avoid placing all administration in a personal mailbox belonging to someone who may leave the team. Plan how authorised colleagues will review notices and locate the necessary records when the person responsible for the website changes.

Prepare your information before ordering

Prepare the holder’s name or company name, address, country, province, telephone number and contact email. Check that the details belong to the same holder rather than mixing the customer’s identity with that of the person completing the form. Resolve uncertainties before proceeding to payment or submitting the application.

An application being accepted does not make inaccurate information acceptable. Never invent details simply to complete a field. Avoid sending identity documents through improvised channels: use the specified verification process when needed, keep a reference to the request and limit unnecessary copies shared with other people or suppliers.

Plan what happens after registration

The domain is only one part of your launch. Decide where the website will run, which provider will host email and who may change DNS records. Record the services and their responsible people together. This makes a future hosting change easier to organise without losing track of your business address.

If you will serve Spanish and international customers, prepare the essential offer, pricing, help and purchase information in their languages. Walk through the whole experience on a phone before promoting the project. Search for a clear name, then verify availability, term and holder details before confirming the order.
